What is Remento for?

Remento helps people discover, document, and more deeply appreciate their family story in a new way. The Remento iOS app makes it easy to host an in-person conversation, request answers to questions or stories behind photos from anyone, or even capture self-reflections as a digital journal.

Whether it's reflections on monumental moments or the joys of everyday life, Remento brings families together through shared exploration of the often overlooked truths that made our nearest and dearest who they are today. In doing so, these conversations break down barriers across generations, breed connection through curiosity, and remind us that understanding our own story starts by listening to the stories of others.

Remento provides:

pre-written (and fully customizable) conversation guides to make it easy to get started with anyone across a variety of topics
a library of questions for you to create your own project from scratch
the technology (iOS app) to guide and record your conversation so you can preserve or share it
expert guidance on how to approach a family interview, difficult conversations, relatives with dementia, and more

How do I get Remento?

You can find the free iOS Remento App in the Apple App Store.

Two ways to use Remento

Path 1 - Send a Request
1. Upload a photo or select a question you'd like someone to answer.
2. Record yourself asking the other person the question you chose and why you'd like them to answer. You can preview your video and re-record if needed before sending.
3. Tap Send, wait for the video to process, then choose your delivery method (email, Messages, etc).
4. You'll get a notification when your recipient responds and their video will show up in your Projects.
Path 2 - Record In-Person
1. Choose a person: If its your first time opening the Remento app, you'll be asked to choose a person who you want to have a conversation with. If its not your first time, you'll be shown sets of prompts organized by the last person you chose - you can change this at any time using the drop down menu at the top.
2. Choose a set of prompts: Use the “+” button on the My Projects page and select a pre-created set of prompts or build your own project from scratch (located at the bottom of the list).
3. Customize: Rearrange, delete, or add prompts to your project. You can write your own questions, add photos, or choose from our library of pre-written prompts.
4. Host the conversation: When you’re ready to record, your phone becomes the facilitator for an in-person conversation and captures every word.

How much does Remento cost?

The Remento iOS app is free and available for download in the Apple App Store. Making the app free to use reflects our genuine belief that everyone should be able to have meaningful experiences like this. In the future, we may introduce optional premium features and functionality.

Is there an Android app for Remento?

Currently Remento is only available for iOS, but we are actively working on our Android app.
